India star shuttler PV Sindhu revealed that her desperation to win the world championship title in 2019 following her consecutive runner up positions in the tournament as fans started labeling her “Silver Sindhu”.
The Silver Medal winner in the 2016 Rio Olympics said she was not happy when people were having the notion that she is always afraid in the finals.
Sindhu said she graced her third final in the World Championships last year which she won two bronze. ” All my thought was to win at all costs. My desperation to win the title is to prove doubters wrong to say I can’t win in the finals”
“I had it in mind that no matter the outcome, I will give my all to claim this title. Many times people call me (Silver Sindhu) and it bothers my mind and I am working hard to make sure I prove them wrong ”
When quizzed about her finals when she defeated her counterpart Nozomi Okuhara of Japan 21-7, 21-7. The shuttler replies saying ” even if we admit we are fine, that doesn’t mean we aren’t under pressure but I had it in mind to put my full focus on the game, gave my best and won.”
She further told reporters how she handled criticism of losing the final after claiming many silver medals in a row, saying it’s not easy to reach the semifinals and finals. “Winning and losing is an essential part of a game ” Sindhu said.
