I think LA Lakers are going to go back to back – Michael Cooper

The LA Lakers had a complete NBA 2019-20 season as they clinched their 17th NBA title. Lakers were able to tick the right boxes and they will be looking to replicate the same performances in the next season. The Lakers have also been busy in the ongoing off-season as they have roped in some exciting talent.

The Lakers had to fill in the big shoes of Danny Green and experienced players like Rajon Rondo and Dwight Howard. However, they have added players like Dennis Schroder and Montrezl Harrell in this off-season.

They have also got talisman players like LeBron James and Anthony Davis, both of whom were instrumental in the success of the team in the previous season. The defending champions also have Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and thus they have the right balance in their team.

Five-time NBA Champion and former Lakers player Michael Cooper feels the team has done well to get in these exciting players, who have the skills to take the team all the way. Cooper feels the team’s support staff and owners have done a fine job in getting the right players.

Cooper said on the SiriusXM NBA Radio, “I was a little hesitant because they just had a great run with some great talented players and then you see Rajon Rondo disappear and everybody starts losing but I think Jeanie Buss, Rob Pelinka, and the powers that be at the Lakers office are making some good moves.”

He said, “We talked a little bit about Montrezl Harrell, I like him. I think that’s a great addition after losing Howard. I like Wesley Matthews until they re-signed KCP, to me that’s two similar players but again you got some high athletes with basketball IQ… The key is going to be getting Anthony Davis back, which he will be, LeBron James getting a little bit of rest and if everybody can come together and keep the chemistry that they had especially in the bubble.”

Cooper added, “I like a lot of the moves… I personally think the Lakers are going to go back-to-back.”

The Lakers have got the right players in their team and they will look to defend their title. LeBron James and Anthony Davis were brilliant in the previous season and they have got the players to support these two in the next season of the NBA.

The next edition of the NBA will begin from December 22.
