Brooklyn Nets were considered as favourites in the Eastern Conference semi-final against Milwaukee Bucks. And when the Nets won the opening two matches, it looked like the Nets would seal the deal. However, the Bucks bounced back as they won two matches on the bounce to make it 2-2.
The Nets won the fifth of the series to take 3-2 lead but once again the Bucks won the last two matches to book their place in the Eastern Conference. The Bucks have now qualified for the Eastern Conference final for the second time in the last three seasons.
On the other hand, Brooklyn Nets were heavily dependent on the shoulders of Kevin Durant as Kyrie Irving was injured and James Harden was playing with an injury. Durant scored a mammoth 48 points in the Game 7 of the Eastern Conference semifinals along with nine rebounds and six assists.
However, his effort went in vain as the Bucks won by 115-111 in OT. Despite the loss, Durant has registered his name in the history books as he broke LeBron James’ record.
As per Nick Wright, “KD not only set the record for most points in a Game 7 tonight, he also passed LeBron for most PPG in Game 7 history. LeBron is at 35ppg, KD is now at 36 ppg.”
Meanwhile, Kevin Durant and Brooklyn Nets will now aim to bounce back stronger in the next season.
On the other hand, Giannis Antetokounmpo was the star performer for the Milwaukee Bucks as he scored 40 points, 13 rebounds and five assists for his team. Milwaukee Bucks will either face the Philadelphia 76ers or Atlanta Hawks in the Eastern Conference finals.
