Golden State Warriors could receive a shot in their arm as their talisman Stephen Curry might return to practice this week. Curry is currently recovering from a sprained ligament and a bone bruise in his left foot. The GSW head coach Steve Kerr revealed Curry will take part in the practice matches before he will be put on the court in the post-season.
Kerr believes it will be irresponsible to put Curry in the main match without the scrimmage. In fact, Curry has been doing some individual work and he is on the right track to recovery.
“The whole team will need a scrimmage given that we generally play every other day and all of a sudden we have six days between games, that’s pretty unique,” Kerr said. “Everybody will need a scrimmage but it would be irresponsible to put Steph out there in a playoff game without having scrimmage time before.”
Kerr revealed they will take a call on Curry’s availability at the end of the week after analyzing his recovery.
“At the end of the week we’ll determine whether he’s ready or not,” Kerr said when asked whether there is a timetable for making a decision about Curry’s availability. “It’s hard to predict much.”
As reported by ESPN, a source said that Curry’s availability will be a close call for the first match of the playoffs against the Denver Nuggets on the 16th of April.
Curry had missed the last 12 matches for the Dubs as he suffered a foot injury during their loss against Boston Celtics on March 16. GSW had finished their regular season with a 53-29 record and they will hope that Curry recovers for their post-season opener against the Nuggets.
