Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green believes the Los Angeles Lakers can rope in the services of former Detroit Pistons head coach Monty Williams as their new chief coach.
The Lakers suffered a first-round exit after losing to the Denver Nuggets and it led to the sacking of their coach Darvin Ham. Green, four-time NBA champion, feels the Lakers can anoint Williams as their talisman Anthony Davis has played under his tutelage at the New Orleans Pelicans.
Green said on his podcast, “I know Anthony Davis loved Monty Williams when he played for him at New Orleans. So you ask yourself, should the Lakers consider Monty Williams? And I say, of course, you got to consider him 100%, especially with that tie.”
Meanwhile, JJ Reddick has been linked as the Lakers’ new coach. However, NBA insider Shams Charania has squashed these rumors.
“There’s not an agreement as far as I know for JJ Redick as of right now,” Charania said on Pat McAfee show. “We’re speaking right now almost 1:45 p.m. Eastern Time. JJ Redick went into LA on Saturday and had in-person meetings, multiple hours with the Lakers brass. With Rob Pelinka the general manager, vice president of basketball operations, ownership as well. I’m told his meetings on Saturday were very impressive.”
According to ESPN sources, Reddick has signed a four-year contract with the Lakers. The Lakers vice president and general manager Rob Pelinka and owner Jeanie Buss met Reddick over the weekend to have a discussion on the same.
It is well known that Redick has a strong relationship with Lakers star LeBron James, with whom he co-hosts a basketball podcast.
