Former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly said big tournament player, Rohit Sharma will be fine in the upcoming T20 World Cup. While Rohit was batting at his best in the first six matches of the ongoing IPL 2024, he has failed to come up with consistent performances in the second phase of the tournament.
Rohit has scored 349 runs in 13 matches of the ongoing IPL 2024 at an average of 29.08 and a strike rate of 145.41.
The former MI captain scored 261 runs in the first six matches at an average of 52.2 and a strike rate of 167.33. But Rohit has managed only 65 runs in the next five games at an average of 13 and a strike rate of 118.1.
Meanwhile, Rohit scored 597 runs in 11 matches of the World Cup 2023 at an average of 54.27 and a blistering strike rate of 125.95. The talisman scored three fifties and one century in the ODI showpiece.
“India is a very good team. Rohit will play well in the World Cup. He plays well in big tournaments. At the big stage, he will be fine,” said Ganguly ahead of the match against LSG.
Rohit is expected to open the innings with Yashasvi Jaiswal in the upcoming T20I showpiece with Virat Kohli to bat at one down. Kohli has amassed 661 runs in 13 matches of the IPL 2024 at an average of 66.10 and a strike rate of 155.16 and he is the highest run-getter in the tournament.
