India’s wicket-keeper bat Rishabh Pant has revealed Gautam Gambhir is all about winning as a new head coach. It is well known that Gambhir hates losing and the former Indian opener always wants to take the bull by its horns.
Gambhir kicked off his coaching campaign with a 3-0 T20I series win against Sri Lanka but the Indian team lost the ODI series against the hosts by 2-.
Before taking the coaching baton from Rahul Dravid, Gambhir led Kolkata Knight Riders to IPL 2024 glory as a mentor.
Rishabh Pant said on Jio Cinema ahead of Duleep trophy opener, “Gauti bhai is more aggressive, he is very one-sided about the fact that we have to win. But you need to find the right balance, That’s the best part about international cricket, you keep on improving and finding the balance,” said Pant.
Speaking on former head coach Rahul Dravid, Pant said, “I feel Rahul bhai was very balanced as a human being and as a coach. For us, there were good moments and bad moments as a cricket team. In the journey of cricket, there are positives and negatives. And it depends on the individuals who are in charge of whether to focus on positives or negatives,” he added.
Pant revealed that as a team they want to keep getting better to get the desired results at the top level.
“Asian countries like Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka perform well in Asian conditions because they are accustomed to the wickets. As the Indian cricket team, we focus solely on our own standards and how we can improve. Regardless of the opposition, we strive to play with the same intensity and give our 100 percent every single day,” said Pant.
Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant’s return to red-ball cricket wasn’t a fruitful one as he was dismissed after scoring only seven runs. The left-hander was taken brilliantly by Team A captain Shubman Gill, who completed a fine catch while running back.
