Sanju Samson and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja have returned to the T20I squad for the series against Sri Lanka.
Jadeja has been added to the squad after missing the last few series due to the right forearm injury.
Furthermore, Virat Kohli has been rested for the series while KL Rahul continues to recover from injury and hasn’t been named in the squad.
Sanju Samson could get his chances in the final XI of the team against the Island nation as Rishabh Pant has been rested for the T20I series. However, Ishan Kishan is retained in the squad and thus it will be interesting to note who will keep the wickets for the team. Moreover, Shardul Thakur has also been rested for the Test as well as the T20I series against Sri Lanka.
Jasprit Bumrah, who was rested for the series against West Indies, makes a comeback to the squad. Moreover, Washington Sundar is also not included in the T20I squad as he is recovering from an injury.
The first T20I between India and Sri Lanka will be played in Lucknow while the next two games will be hosted in Dharamshala. Avesh Khan has also been included in the squad.

Along with the T20I squad, Indian selectors have also named the Test squad for the two-match series against the Island nation. Rohit Sharma has been named as the new Test captain while Ajinkya Rahane, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ishant Sharma, and Wriddhiman Saha have been dropped from the team.
