Kolkata Knight Riders will take on Lucknow Super Giants in the 66th match of the ongoing Indian Premier League 2022 at the Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy, Mumbai on Wednesday.
It will be a must-win game for KKR whereas LSG has all but confirmed their place in the last four of the tournament.
In fact, even if KKR win against LSG, they will want favors from the remaining teams. Meanwhile, KKR had won their previous match against Sunrisers Hyderabad convincingly by 54 runs. Andre Russell had starred with both bat and ball as he had scored a quickfire knock of 49 runs and had also scalped three wickets against the Orange Army.
Thus, KKR will look to continue the good show and win their last league stage match to give themselves an outside chance to qualify for the playoff stages.
On the other hand, Lucknow Super Giants have veered off the track in their last two matches. They have lost their last two games by a big margin and it is a cause of concern in the business end of the tournament. Their batting unit hasn’t been able to come up with a collective effort and it has led to their downfall. Ergo, they need to pull up their socks as a batting unit in the last league stage match.
In fact, KKR is also not at its absolute best with the bat. Furthermore, Ajinkya Rahane has been ruled out of IPL 2022 due to a hamstring injury and thus it will once again be a new opening pair for KKR against LSG.
