Punjab Kings will lock horns against Delhi Capitals in the 64th match of the Indian Premier League at the Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy, Mumbai on Monday.
Both of these teams had kept themselves in the playoff race after winning their respective previous games.
Punjab had convincingly beaten Royal Challengers Bangalore by 54 runs in their last game to give a boost to their NRR. The Mohali-based franchise had posted a par score of 209 runs after Jonny Bairstow and Liam Livingstone had scored fine fifties.
Subsequently, PBKS were able to keep the opposition at 155-9 after Kagiso Rabada returned with three wickets whereas Rahul Chahar and Rishi Dhawan contributed with two wickets each.
On the other hand, Delhi Capitals had won their previous game against Rajasthan Royals convincingly by eight wickets. They had bowled well to keep the opposition at 160 and then David Warner and Mitchell Marsh had played match-winning knocks for their team.
DC have their fate in their own hands and should they win their last two league stage matches, they are most likely to go through to the playoffs.
Similarly, PBKS can also make it to the last four if they win their remaining two matches as they have a positive NRR. Thus, it will be a must-win match for both of these teams and they will look to bring their best.
