Chennai Super Kings opening batsman Faf du Plessis has heaped praise on his skipper MS Dhoni. The veteran wicket-keeper has all the experience under his belt and Faf added that MS knows what he is doing and it is a pleasure for him to play under his tutelage.
Dhoni is one of the most successful captains in the history of the sport and he knows how to get the best out of his players. Meanwhile, CSK, who couldn’t qualify for the playoff stages in the previous season, have got off to a good start as they have won three out of their four matches.
Faf du Plessis said in the post-match presentation, “Been very lucky playing under MS for a long time. He knows what he’s doing, a pleasure to play under him. There was dew tonight, and then it was a proper batter’s game”.
Faf du Plessis couldn’t get going in the first three matches but the South African was at his absolute best against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on Wednesday.
The right-hander added 115 runs with Ruturaj Gaikwad for the opening alliance and scored a fine knock of 95 runs off just 60 balls with the help of nine fours and four sixes to help his team post a total of 220 runs on the board. The Proteas player was timing the ball to perfection and felt it was the most fluent he has played in the recent past.
Du Plessis added, “This was the most fluent I’ve felt so far. Felt the previous game things started to get better. Tonight was another step. It’s about the rhythm of the flow of the hands”.
Du Plessis also heaped praise on his opening partner, Ruturaj Gaikwad, who got back into form with a fine knock of 64 runs. The former SA skipper stated Gaikwad times the ball to perfection and he is a special talent.
Du Plessis added, “He’s a fantastic young talent (Gaikwad). Those first couple of balls you can feel on edge as a batter. Beautiful to see him trust the timing and the technique. For a small guy he hits the ball a long way”.
CSK will aim to continue the good show and they will next play RCB at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on 25th April.
