Rajasthan Royals skipper Sanju Samson believes his team needs to review the mistakes they are making in their batting.
RR got off to another poor start as they lost four wickets for 43 runs inside the eight overs. Jos Buttler, Manan Vohra, Sanju Samson and David Miller were dismissed cheaply, which put the team on the backfoot against Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.
RR were able to get to a fighting score of 177 runs after contributions from Shivam Dube and Rahul Tewatia who scored 46 and 40 respectively. In fact, RR could only score 143 against CSK and had lost by a massive margin of 45 runs. Thus, they will need to pull up their socks in the batting department.
RR haven’t been consistent in the batting department, which has led to their downfall. The team has already lost three out of the four matches they have played and are currently at the bottom of the points table. The team hasn’t been able to get going and they will need to bounce back stronger.
The team is heavily relied on the shoulders of Sanju Samson, Jos Buttler and David Miller but three of them have not been consistent. Samson had scored a fine knock of 119 runs in the first game against PBKS but he has veered off the track since then. The stylish batsman got off to another start but was dismissed after scoring 21 runs against RCB.
Samson feels his team will bounce back stronger in the coming matches and they need to be honest with themselves regarding their mistakes.
Sanju Samson said in the post-match presentation, “They batted really well. We did well to get that score on the board after the early wickets. We need to go back and do some homework. We need to be honest with ourselves and come back better. Need time to look into what went wrong and understand, I am sure we will come back well. This game… It puts you down but you need to find a way and come out better”.
Rajasthan Royals will aim to come up with a collective effort and they will have their work cut out in the coming matches. RR will next face KKR at the Wankhede Stadium on 24th April.
