Delhi Capitals will kick off their IPL 2023 against Lucknow Super Giants at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow on 1st April. The Capitals had added Rilee Rossouw, Phillip Salt, Manish Pandey, Ishant Sharma, and Mukesh Kumar to their squad in IPL 2023 auction.
The Capitals had narrowly missed out in the playoff stages in the previous season and they will want to come up with a better show in IPL 2023. However, Rishabh Pant’s absence is going to be a huge void for the Capitals and David Warner will lead the team in his absence.
Strengths:
The Capitals have assembled a potent squad after the auction and they tick most of the boxes. However, it will be about executing their skills on the ground. They have a strong batting unit with David Warner, Prithvi Shaw, Mitchell Mash, Rilee Rossouw, Phillip Salt, and Manish Pandey. Furthermore, they have a brilliant pace battery as they have bowlers like Khaleel Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman, Ishant Sharma, Anrich Nortje, Lungi Ngidi, and Mukesh Kumar in their squad.
Weaknesses:
The Capitals have performed consistently in the last couple of seasons but they haven’t been able to win the crucial stages of the big matches. They haven’t yet gone all the way and that lack of belief could be a huge factor. However, Ricky Ponting has done a magnificent job for the team.
