Rajasthan Royals gun fast bowler Trent Boult feels different players standing up at different times has helped them win and savor success in the ongoing IPL 2023 so far. RR defeated defending champions Gujarat Titans by three wickets at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on Sunday.
GT posted a competitive score of 177 after they were put into bat by Sanju Samson. However, RR was in all kind of trouble at 55-4 in the run-chase after 10.3 overs.
Mohammed Shami and Hardik Pandya were right on the money with the new ball and Samson had to respect the conditions when he came out to bat. The RR skipper changed gears when he launched Rashid Khan for three successive sixes in the 13th over of the innings.
Samson scored a fine knock of 60 runs from 32 balls whereas Shimron Hetmyer added 56 runs from 26 balls to help his team get home.
Trent Boult said after the match, “Different guys standing up at different times has helped us win the game from different situations. Jos (Buttler) is a massive player for us and I am sure he must be frustrated to miss out on some runs tonight. But the hunger from the rest of the batting unit helped us cross the finishing line.”
Meanwhile, Boult took a sharp catch when Shimron Hetmyer, Sanju Samson and Dhruv Jurel all went for the Saha’s catch and collided. However, the ball ricocheted off Samson’s gloves and the New Zealander found himself at the right place at the right time.
“Crazy one it goes high in the night skies. Obviously in this amazing crowd, you can’t hear much. I would call myself lucky, probably just right place at the right time. It is a significant win. They had our numbers. It is satisfying to finish these close matches. There are some good vibes in the changing room as well.”
However, Boult didn’t have a great evening with the ball as he returned with expensive figures of 1-46 in his quota of four overs.
Rajasthan Royals will next face Lucknow Super Giants at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium, Jaipur on Wednesday.
