IPL 2024: Backing RCB to beat RR in Eliminator as they have momentum – Varun Aaron

Former Royal Challengers Bengaluru fast bowler Varun Aaron has backed the Faf du Plessis-led team to beat Rajasthan Royals in the Eliminator at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on Wednesday. While RCB has won six matches on the bounce to qualify for the playoffs, RR has veered off the track, losing four games on the trot.

RR had won seven out of their first eight matches and were favorites to finish among the top two teams but ended the league stage in third place. On the other hand, RCB’s hopes of qualifying for the playoffs were hanging by a thin thread as they had won a solitary contest out of their first eight games. However, RCB made a stunning comeback to make it to the playoffs.

RCB came up with an aggressive batting approach and their bowlers were also able to execute their plans. The Faf du Plessis-led team defeated CSK by 27 runs in their last league stage match to seal their playoffs berth.

“Especially when you win six games on the trot and you go into playoffs like this. All it does to you is just heighten your self-belief, not just his but the whole team’s. So they will go in with a lot of belief and very contrasting to Rajasthan Royals who’re going in with lot of doubts. So, it’s going to be a very interesting encounter and I completely back RCB on this one just because of the momentum they’re taking into this encounter,” said Varun Aaron on Star Sports.

Meanwhile, Aaron also lauded Virat Kohli’s commitment to RCB. Kohli has been a consistent performer for RCB over the years and has scored 708 runs in 14 matches in the ongoing edition.

“He’s got a trophy left because that’s one thing he has not got in all these years. He’s given his heart and soul to this franchise, the fans love him. Obviously, every other fan from other teams also love him but that IPL trophy has been that ever-elusive one unicorn I would say for Virat Kohli which he has to get this year. He would want to get that this year,” he added.

RCB will take on RR in the Eliminator at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on Wednesday.
