Sunrisers Hyderabad assistant coach Simon Helmot reckons Suryakumar Yadav will have a lot of influence in the T20 World Cup. SKY scored a magnum opus knock of 102 runs off just 51 balls with the help of 12 fours and six maximums in the run-chase of 174 against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on Monday.
With the help of Yadav’s brilliance, MI registered a much-needed win of seven wickets to keep themselves alive in the tournament. MI was under the pump at 31-3 but Yadav was able to get his team out of the hole as he added 143 runs with Tilak Varma.
SKY has an unbelievable record in T20s and he is one of the best batters in the shortest format of the game. Thus, SKY’s form is going to be crucial for India in the upcoming T20 World Cup. Yadav has scored 2141 runs in 60 T20I matches at an average of 45.55 and a blistering strike rate of 171.55.
“It’s very difficult to bowl against Suryakumar Yadav. A very difficult batsman to match up with when he is in that sort of mood. He did not make many mistakes throughout the match. We did our best to mix things up and get him out but he was just too good tonight,” Helmot said after the match in the post-match press conference.
“Suryakumar is an exceptional cricketer and I think he is always going to demand a spot in the Indian team. I am sure that he will have an influence in the World Cup,” he further added.
SKY batted at his absolute best against the Orange Army and Indian fans will hope he continues his good form in the T20I showpiece. The talisman has scored 334 runs in nine matches of IPL 2024 at an average of 41.75 and a strike rate of 176.71.
