Sunrisers Hyderabad batter Travis Head said their batting unit wants to be exciting the whole time after their 25-run win against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru on Monday.
The likes of Abhishek Sharma, Travis Head, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Aiden Markram, and Heinrich Klaasen have delivered consistently in the ongoing season for SRH. Head scored a blistering knock of 102 runs off just 41 balls against RCB with the help of nine fours and eight sixes.
Head added 108 runs off just 51 balls with Abhishek Sharma, who scored 34 runs. Subsequently, Heinrich Klaasen continued his good form, smashing 67 off just 31 balls, hitting two fours and seven sixes.
Abdul Samad added the finishing touches for SRH as clobbered 37 off just 10 balls, helping his team post 287 runs on the board, breaking their own record of most runs in an innings in the IPL (277).
“[Our total] needs a three in front of it, does it now?” Head joked, when asked between innings about the benchmarks Sunrisers are setting for themselves, after the first innings against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Monday. “It’s proper batting. We’ve wanted to be exciting the whole time, and we’ve wanted to take the game on, and Pat and then Dan have put pressure on the batting line-up to make sure we try and maximise the powerplay and then keep going.
“We’ve got guys like [Heinrich] Klaasen, [Abdul] Samad and Nitish [Kumar Reddy, who] didn’t even get a hit today. We’ve got some power through the middle, and we want to keep just putting the foot down as much as we can. We know that’s not always guaranteed, but at the moment I think we’re setting it up really well in each game and getting to the score that we need.”
Head was awarded the Player of the Match for his insane knock. SRH smashed 22 sixes, which is the most in IPL history.
Sunrisers Hyderabad will next take on Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi on Saturday.
