Indian batter KL Rahul is delighted to join Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League. Rahul was bought by Delhi Capitals for INR 14 crore in IPL 2025 mega auction, which took place in Jeddah. Rahul was earlier not retained by Lucknow Super Giants before the auction.
Rahul has had an impressive record in the IPL, scoring 4683 runs in 132 IPL matches at an average of 45.47 and a strike rate of 134.61. Rahul could also lead Delhi Capitals after the franchise released Rishabh Pant.
Rahul said in a video shared by Delhi Capitals’ Instagram account, “Hey, guys. I’m super happy to be joining the Delhi Capitals. A new journey begins for me with the Delhi Capitals and I’m super excited. The squad looks really good. Can’t wait for the season to begin and come to Delhi and play at the Kotla and entertain all of you. See you guys there.”
On the other hand, Delhi Capitals co-owner Parth Jindal is excited to rope in the services of KL Rahul. Jindal said Rahul will provide them stability at the top order.
“We were looking for stability in the top order, someone with experience who can build the innings. And, I think KL Rahul, given his record in the IPL, he’s someone who’s consistently given more than 400 runs every season. I think with the Kotla wicket, it is going to suit his game. We’re very excited to have him.”
Rahul also returned with scores of 26 and 77 in the opening Test match against Australia, which India won by 295 runs at Perth.
