Former Indian batter Mohammad Kaif slammed KL Rahul’s critics after the Indian opener continued his rich form in Test cricket. Rahul scored a fine knock of 100 runs off 197 balls against the West Indies in the first innings of the opening Test match at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.
The flamboyant batter remained unbeaten on 53 at the end of the opening day’s play after the West Indies were bowled out for 162. On the second day’s play, Rahul completed his 11th Test hundred, which was his second century in the home conditions.
Kaif wrote on X, “How opinions change after scoring in few innings.. Now his critics say there is no one like him. Remember: KL Rahul strength is his belief and hard work. That’s what makes him rise after every fall and perform despite the pressure.”
Rahul added 68 runs with his opening partner Yashasvi Jaiswal, who scored 36 runs. Subsequently, the Indian opener added 98 runs with captain Shubman Gill.
Meanwhile, Rahul had scored 532 runs in five Test matches on the England tour at an average of 53.20. The flamboyant batter continued his rich form as he scored a match-winning knock of 176 runs against Australia A in the second unofficial Test at Lucknow.
Rahul has all the experience under his belt and he would look to make the most of his rich form. The veteran batter has an average of 35.41 and there is no doubt he would aim to stretch his overall average past 40.
After lunch on the second day’s play, India were 281-4, leading by 119 runs with Dhruv Jurel and Ravindra Jadeja unbeaten at the crease.
