Multan Sultans, Lahore Qalandars, Peshawar Zalmi, and Islamabad United qualified for the playoff stages of the eighth edition of the tournament. All of these four teams were able to come up with a collective effort in the league stage.
There were some exciting bowling performances in the 30 matches of the competition. We take a look at the three wicket-takers of the league stage.
Abbas Afridi: Multan Sultans fast bowler Abbas Afridi impressed with his pace in PSL 2023. The 21-year-old finished as the leading wicket-taker of the league stage as he scalped 22 wickets in nine matches at an average of 14.45. The youngster took two four-wicket and one five-wicket hausl.
His best bowling show came against Quetta Gladiators when he returned with figures of 5-47. The right-arm pacer also took a hat trick in that game.
Ihsanullah: Multan Sultans speedster Ihsanullah was right on the money in the league stage. The fast bowler from Matta took 20 wickets in 10 matches at an impressive average of 14.60. Furthermore, he bowled with an economy rate of 7.36.
Ergo, both Abbas Afridi and Ihsanullah played an instrumental role in helping Multan Sultans finish at the second spot in the points table.
Rashid Khan: Lahore Qalandars’ spinner Rashid Khan once again showed his class in the tournament. The leg-spinner from Afghanistan took 15 wickets in eight matches for the Shaheen Shah Afridi-led team and helped them finish at the top of the standings.
Moreover, he conceded his runs at a parsimonious economy rate of 6.29.
