Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja hailed Rohit Sharma after the Indian skipper scored a fantastic century in the second ODI against England at Cuttack on Sunday. Jadeja said Rohit needed one big knock to get back into form and his century is a huge positive for the team ahead of the Champions Trophy.
Rohit scored a magnificent knock of 119 runs off just 90 balls with the help of 12 fours and seven sixes as he batted at the top of his game. The Indian captain added 136 runs for the opening alliance with Shubman Gill, who scored a fine knock of 60 runs.
Rohit scored his 32nd century and he reached the personal milestone off just 76 balls with a six against Adil Rashid.
“In the dressing room, we’re not worried at all. He’s such a big player that he knows how to get back in form. It was just matter of one inning,” Jadeja said in the pre-match press conference.
“It didn’t feel like he has not scored runs in the last few innings. It was a smooth knock and played some confident shots. Sometimes it’s just about one or two innings. If one or two innings go well, it’s a good thing. Him getting back in the form before the Champions Trophy is important for us. I think it’s excellent for the team,” Jadeja reckoned.
The all-rounder added that Rohit knows his game and there is nothing to discuss.
“Obviously, he knows what his game is. There’s nothing to think about or discuss.”
India was able to chase down 305 runs with 33 balls to spare and Rohit played a key role in the team’s triumph.
The final and third ODI between India and England will be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on Wednesday.
