Former Indian all-rounder Reetinder Singh Sodhi has rated Rohit Sharma as the best batsman in the world. Rohit Sharma has grabbed his chances in the Test format and he is also one of the most consistent batsmen in the limited-overs format.
The right-hander has provided some great starts to the national team while opening the innings with Shikhar Dhawan. Rohit now has all the experience under his belt and he has consistently delivered in all the conditions, especially in the white-ball format.
Meanwhile, talking about the upcoming series against England, Sodhi believes Rohit Sharma, Cheteshwar Pujara and Virat Kohli will hold the key for the visitors as they have the experience under their bag.
“A lot here depends on Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Cheteshwar Pujara – how these three batsmen catch form in the upcoming series. We all know that, in his elegance, Rohit Sharma is the best batsman in the world,” Sodhi said on India News.
On the other hand, Rohit Sharma wasn’t consistent in the Test format. However, he has been able to grab his chance as an opener and has done a fine job. Rohit has consistently delivered in the Indian conditions and he has also shown the promise to do well in the overseas conditions in the recent past.
“He was definitely struggling in Test cricket if we talk about sometime back but now he has stamped his authority in Test cricket. He is a special player as an opener, when he plays he can take the match away from the opposition in a matter of moments,” he added.
Rohit Sharma has thus far scored 2679 runs in 39 Test matches at an average of 46.19. The veteran batsman will look to deliver the goods for the Indian team in the upcoming Test series against England. The first Test match will be played at Trent Bridge, Nottingham from August 4.
