Indian youngster Shubman Gill said that the team is raring to turn the tables in the second Test match against South Africa. India suffered a heavy loss of an innings and 32 runs in the opening Test against the Proteas and they will be looking to level the series at Cape Town.
Meanwhile, Gill returned with scores of 2 and 26 in the first Test match and he will look to deliver in the second Test. India could not come up with a collective effort, especially with the ball as they conceded a huge score of 408 runs.
Gill feels it’s not so much about the technique, it’s more so about the grit and determination in Test matches. India’s number three added that they are fully prepared and are determined to give their best to level the series.
Gill said before the second Test match while talking to the host broadcasters, “We’ve got quite a few days to prepare for this one. This is a new year, new day for us and we are going to come back and make a statement in this Test match. It’s very important to be there mentally, you have to let your focus and determination and let your grit take over.”
He added, “It’s not so much about the technique, it’s more so about the grit and determination. This is a great opportunity for us to level the series and all of us are very well prepared and very well equipped to be able to win this Test match. It’s a beautiful ground, lovely to be here, surrounded by the mountains on one side. We are really looking forward for this Test match.”
Meanwhile, South African captain Dean Elgar won the toss and decided to bat first. However, the Proteas find themselves on the mat as they are tottering at 35-6 as Mohammed Siraj has bagged a five-wicket haul.
