The Indian team had drawn first blood in the three-match T20I series as they won the first T20I convincingly by 38 runs. Suryakumar Yadav had scored a fine fifty off just 33 balls whereas Shikhar Dhawan had scored a decent knock of 46 runs.
However, Sanju Samson once again could not convert his start into a big score.
On the other hand, Bhuvneshwar Kumar was the chief destroyer of Sri Lanka’s innings as he scalped four wickets and conceded only 22 runs. Meanwhile, Charith Asalanka impressed on his T20I debut as he scored 44 runs and gave a glimmer of hope to the hosts in chasing down the target of 165 runs.
Furthermore, Wanindu Hasaranga continued his good form as he scalped three wickets and conceded only 28 runs in the four overs he bowled.
India will aim to clinch the series and come with a better batting performance whereas Sri Lanka will aim to come up with a collective performance to stay alive in the series.
It will be interesting to note the performances of Hardik Pandya and Sanju Samson, both of whom haven’t been able to stand tall to the challenge thus far in the series.
