India will lock horns against Bangladesh in the 47th match of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, North Sound, Antigua on Saturday. The Men in Blue registered a 47-run win against Afghanistan whereas Bangladesh suffered a 28-run loss (DLS method) against Australia.
India’s top-order form has been a worry in the tournament as Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have failed to deliver the goods. Sharma did struggle to find his timing against Fazalhaq Farooqi and thus his matchup against Mustafizur Rahman will be a defining factor.
Kohli, on the other hand, got off to start but could not convert it into a substantial score after scoring a run-a-ball 24. The game-changing knock came from the number-one batter in the ICC T20I rankings – Suryakumar Yadav – as he smashed 53 runs off 28 balls. Furthermore, Hardik Pandya played a crucial knock of 32 runs.
Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah was at his usual best, returning with 3-7 in his quota of four overs whereas Arshdeep Singh and Kuldeep Yadav bagged three and two wickets respectively.
On the other hand, Bangladesh will need to be more clinical with the bat as they could only manage 140 runs against Australia. The Tigers have done a decent job with the ball in the tournament but their batters need to put enough runs on the board.
Match Prediction: India will enter the contest as favorites against Bangladesh.
