I-League side East Bengal have continued to reinforce their team ahead of the 2020/2021 I-League season by bringing in two more players despite signing some other players before now.
The Kolkota side this time around are bringing in two young prospects from the All India Football Federation’s development team, Indian Arrows.
East Bengal will be hoping to have a better season after finishing second in the 2019-20 season with a whopping 16 points behind League toppers Mohun Bagan.
Ricky Shabong and Harmanpreet Singh are the new additions to the side, according to reports from goal.Com.
Ricky shaving featured prominently for India Arrows after making Sixteen appearances as a central defensive midfielder.
The player, a former India youth international with the India u16 team, played at the 2018 AFC championship quarter-finals stage.
His passing skills would be important as his fellow ex Indian arrow teammate, Harmanpreet sing, is a forward who is comfortable in any position in the front line of attack.
Harmanpreet initially struggled when he made his I-League debut last season in the match against Minerva Punjab.
However, the current season has been better making 13 appearances so far for Indian Arrows and should form a good partnership with Ricky at east Bengal.
While he is yet to score his first professional goal, his potential has attracted the East Bengal, who has so far brought in Mohammed Irshad, Novin Gurung, and Bikramjit Singh.
The I-League has been suspended since March due to the coronavirus pandemic with four games still left to be played, although Mohun Bagan’s lead at the top of the table is unassailable with 16 points.
The league could be abandoned with the clubs to share the prize money without relegation or promotion from division two.
