Chennaiyin FC has added three new players to their squad with just a few weeks to the start of the India Super League season.
The players are Ganesan Balaji and Aqib Nawab from the Reliance Foundation Young Champs (RFYC). The teenagers signed long-term contracts with the clubs and have been included in the team’s squad for the season.
Meanwhile, B.Y. Revanth has joined the Chennaiyin FC senior team from the club’s B team. The youngster will be the team’s fourth goalkeeper for the season.
Chennaiyin FC now has seven foreign players and 21 domestic players in their roster for the season, while youth team players Mohamed Liyaakath and Rahul K. have both signed contract extensions with the club.
The team’s head coach Csaba László expressed delight in the addition of the young players into the team. He stated that the team prioritizes nurturing young Indian players.
“The inclusion of young blood in our team is imperative. Nurturing and promoting budding Indian talents is as much of a priority for us, as is winning matches and trophies. I am delighted to welcome Revanth, (Ganesan) Balaji and (Aqib) Nawab to our ranks and I wish to see them don the CFC colours with pride very soon,” Csaba László said.
Coach Csaba László arrived in Goa last week ahead of the start of the 2020-2021 India Super League season as the teams arrived to start preparations for the new season.
The 2020-2021 India Super League season will be played without fans in the stadium as a precaution to the pandemic.
Indian Super League will have 11 teams this season, with the inclusion of East Bengal, who were absorbed into the league recently.
ATK, who won the league last season, will compete as ATK-Mohun Bagan after the merger with I-League Champions Mohun Bagan.
