Mumbai City FC has signed the services of Lallianzuala Chhangte on a permanent deal ahead of the ninth season of the Hero Indian Super League, the club announced on Tuesday. The midfielder has signed a three-year deal with the Islanders and thus he will stay at the club till the end of the 2025 season.
Chhangte had moved to Mumbai City FC from Chennaiyin FC on loan in January. The midfielder start his journey in the Hero ISL with NorthEast United FC back in 2016. Subsequently, he made a move to Delhi Dynamos and played for them for two years.
The youngster has played 97 matches in the tournament while representing four teams.
The 25-year old is delighted to join hands with the club as he said, “I am delighted and honored to be a part of Mumbai City. One of the biggest reasons behind joining Mumbai City last season was to be a part of an ambitious club and to play at the highest level possible. I feel privileged that I was able to do just that representing our club at the AFC Champions League and being a part of history.”
On the other hand, head coach Des Buckingham is also happy to rope in Chhangte and believes he will make a winning contribution to the club by performing well in the midfield.
He said, “At Mumbai City, we want to play an attacking and exciting style of football and Chhangte is a perfect fit. He is another young player whose ambition matches ours as a club in the upcoming season and near future.”
On the other hand, Kerala Blasters have roped in winger Sourav Mandal from Churchill Brothers on a three-year contract. The youngster will stay at the club till 2025 as part of the deal.
“I would like to congratulate Sourav about this opportunity. A lot of hard work still awaits as he needs to learn and handle new things in ISL. I wish him all the best for the upcoming years in our club,” Karolis Skinkys stated in regards to the Blaster’s second summer signing.
Mandal started his football journey with Rainbow FC and then moved to Churchill Brothers, whom he represented in 14 matches.
