NorthEast United FC has roped in the services of youngster Parthib Gogoi ahead of the ninth edition of the Hero Indian Super League, the club announced earlier in the week. The young lad will look to add value to the team’s attack in the upcoming season.
Gogoi, who hails from Assam, rose through the ranks while playing for Indian Arrows before the 2020-21 season. The youngster got regular opportunities under coach Shanmugam Venkatesh and he will look to bring his best to the ISL.
The 19-year-old was also given the responsibility to lead the team and he scored three in 28 matches for AIFF’s developmental side.
Gogoi also scored four goals in five games for India in the SAFF U-20 championships and played a key role in taking the national team to glory.
On the other hand, in other ISL news, previous season runners-up Kerala Blasters decided to part ways with striker Prashanth Mohan.
Meanwhile, NorthEast United FC had earlier roped in midfielders like Jithin MS and Emil Benny from I-League champions Gokulam Kerala FC. Furthermore, they have signed the services of goalkeeper Arindam Bhattacharya. They also roped in foreign players like Michael Jakobsen and Matt Derbyshire.
On the other hand, NorthEast United FC had a disappointing previous season in the tournament as they could only manage three wins in 20 league stage matches.
They finished at 10th place after only bagging 14 points and the club will be determined to turn the tables in the ninth edition of the Hero ISL. Thus, the Highlanders will be determined to turn the tables in the upcoming season of the tournament.
The Higlanders will begin their campaign against Bengaluru FC at the Shree Kanteerava Stadium, Bengaluru on the 8th of October.
