Jamshedpur FC head coach Khalid Jamil admitted the team worked hard after their thrilling 3-2 win against Mumbai City FC at the Mumbai Football Arena at Mumbai in the Indian Super League on Sunday. The visitors were put under the cosh as the home team took a 2-0 lead in the first half.
Tiri scored the opening game for the Islanders as he found the back of the net in the 14th minute. Alberto Noguera then scored for the home team in the 32nd minute.
However, Jamshedpur FC bounced back into the contest as Imran Khan continued his good form, scoring in the 55th minute. Red Miners’ forward Jeremy Manzorro then scored a brace to help his team bag all three points as the match ended in a thrilling way.
“The team worked hard. The players are talented (to produce such results) and I just motivate them,” Khalid Jamil said in the post-match conference.
Jamshedpur FC had their backs against the wall as they were trailing by 2-0 at halftime.
Revealing his team talk at half-time, Jamil said: “I told the players not to give up and score an early goal. If we get one, then go for the second. Then the confidence comes automatically (to the team). But we had to score an early goal (in the second half) not allow them to score another goal. They (players) are mature, professional and they know how to do things.”
Meanwhile, Jeremy Manzorro made the most of Mumbai City FC’s mistakes as he scored twice to give a thumping victory to his team.
“There are always mistakes in the game. Even we made mistakes at the start and conceded early. And then another goal. The first half was not upto the mark. They (Mumbai City FC) also tried (to score the equaliser) but the result was eventually in our favour,” Jamil signed off.
Jamshedpur FC will next take on Bengaluru FC at the JRD Tata Sports Complex on Sunday.
