NEROCA FC’s attacking midfielder Imran Khan is set to join NorthEast United for the next season of the India Super League.
The 25-year-old was with Mohun Bagan at the start of the 2019/2020 ISL season but failed to command a starting shirt and was forced to join NEROCA in the January transfer window.
Things went better at NEROCA as he made 990 minutes on the pitch of play, raking 11 appearances in total.
NorthEast United has already made some signings this transfer window with Ponif Vaz, Gurjinder Kumar, Lalkhawpuimawia & Rochharzela all joining for the upcoming 2020-21 season.
The Highlanders, as NorthEast United are called, ended in ninth position on the table with 14 points from 18 games played.
Meanwhile, in the I-League, the All India Football Federation has informed East Bengal that it has limited time to declare its ownership status after the All India Football Federation (AIFF) gave licensing agreements to I-League and India Super League clubsides.
Clubs have to sign agreements and return to the All India Football Federation within ten days to qualify for the licensing criteria for the 2020-21 season, failure to do so will rule such club from all football competition ls organized by the AIFF.
East Bengal previously had its stake owned by Quess Corp by 70% in a three-year deal, which the company terminated on the 31st of May.
Meanwhile, Chairman of Quess Corp Ajit Isaac recently requested for communications to be done through the company, stating the need for more time from the All India Football Federation to sort out the ownership issue.
Furthermore, the submission of the valid declaration, which outlines the club’s ownership to the All India Football Federation, is needed if the club is to participate in the 2020-2021 season of AFC Club Licensing.
