It was a no-brainer for me: Petar Sliskovic on signing for Jamshedpur FC

Forward Petar Sliskovic has stated it was a no-brainer for him to sign with Jamshedpur FC ahead of the new season of the Hero Indian Super League. The Croatian player admitted head coach Scott Cooper’s vision played a big role in his move to the Red Miners.

Sliskovic had a stellar run in ISL 2022-23 season while playing for Chennaiyin FC, scoring eight goals and providing four assists in the 17 matches he played.

Overall, he scored 11 goals and provided six assists in 22 appearances across all competitions for Marina Machans. Ergo, he will look to continue the good show for Jamshedpur FC in the upcoming season.

“After the season ended, Jamshedpur was the first team to contact me, and I had a very good feeling after I spoke with the Head Coach. It was then a no-brainer for me to come and be a part of the Men of Steel,” Sliskovic stated in an interview with Jamshedpur FC.

Sliskovic made his professional debut in the Bundesliga for FSV Mainz at the age of 19 back in 2010 and played for the club for five seasons until 2015. The 32-year-old Croatian will definitely boost Jamshedpur FC’s attacking unit.

“India is a big country with lots of people but I’ve fallen in love with this place and its people and I’m very happy I decided to stay here for at least another year.”

Sliskovic has a lot of experience under his belt as he has played 359 matches in which he has scored 136 goals and provided 16 assists before coming to Inida in the previous season.

He has the experience of rubbing shoulders with one of the best in the business in German top-tier football. Pliskovic had also won the Under-19 Bundesliga with FSV Mainz back in the 2008-09 season.

Moreover, he has the experience of playing for German clubs like Hallescher FC, Viktoria 1889 Berlin and MSV Duisburg. Sliskovic added that football has always been his passion.

“My whole life is football,” said the forward.

“The game has always been my passion and my uncle was a big player in Croatia and Bosnia because of which I decided to play football,” he further added.
