Jamshedpur FC came back to winning ways with a 4-0 mauling of high flying Odisha FC in their latest Indian Super League clash. With this win, the Men of Steel have taken the second spot in the ISL points table just behind league leaders Mumbai City FC.
It was one of the best ever performances in the ISL history as Greg Stewart came up with a fantastic hattrick and an assist as he contributed to all four goals in the game. Jamshedpur FC head coach Owen Coyle was delighted with the result as he addressed the media after the fantastic win.
“We deserved to be 4-0 up because of the quality of the goals and the chances we had, we were outstanding from the first whistle, played with the intensity, the finishing was clinical and that’s what we need to do while moving forward. If we are as clinical as tonight we’ll be in good state,” Owen Coyle began.
Coyle always understood the quality that Stewart can bring to this team and highlighted how motivated the Scotsman was to prove himself out of his comfort zone in India. “I knew that, that’s why I brought him to the club, if you look at my interviews before the season started, I’ve been telling what impact he’ll have with Jamshedpur not because of his goals but the quality of his play. He’s a team player and has been an instrumental addition to our plans, ” Coyle asserted.
Apart from Stewart’s heroics, the match also saw how much players like Komal Thatalm and Boris Singh have developed under the Scotsman’s reign in a season. Coyle wishes to continue working with them and help them develop as great footballers in the coming years.
Apart from their 4-2 defeat against Mumbai City, Jamshedpur FC have been fantastic in their matches this season. Even in defeat, they showed great character to fight back in the second half. However, this match was Coyle’s favourite. The Scottish tactician felt that Jamshedpur FC delivered a complete performance with plenty of positives to take apart from Greg Stewart. However, even in delight, Coyle is hoping that Alex Lima’s injury is nothing serious and the Brazilian can come back to the field in no time.
