South African tactician Patrick Tshutshani appointed as Indian women’s team Analytical Coach

 

Last year was historic for Indian hockey in every sense and people at Hockey India are leaving no stone unturned as they look to build on to the success of both Men’s and Women’s teams at the Tokyo Olympics.

Recently Hockey India announced the signing of new Women’s Team Analytical Coach and Scientific Advisors for both Senior Men and Women’s Hockey teams.

South African tactician Patrick Tshutshani will take charge of the WOmen’s Hockey team as their Analytical Coach. Before joining the Indian Eves, Tshutshani was working as the  Director/ Head Coach of the Field Hockey Canada Junior Women’s Team. The South African led the Canadian Junior Women’s team to clinch the 2021 Women’s Pan America Junior Championship title. He also has the experience of being the assistant coach of Field Hockey Canada Women’s National Team.

Tshutshani has also worked for the Hong Kong Women’s team back in 2009 where he was the assistant coach. He also worked for hisSouth Africa leading them to the 2016 Junior World Cup and assistant coach for the South African Junior Women’s Hockey Team for the 2013 Junior World Cup.

Therefore Tshutshani’s experience in managing several teams all over the globe will help him in his current job of managing the Indian Eves. Apart from Tshutshani, Hockey India also announced the arrival of Taren Naidoo. Another South African who will take office as the Scientific Advisor for the Indian eves will look to help in the progress of the Women’s team. Naidoo has a decade long experience of working with both South African men’s and women’s teams as a Head Hockey Sports Scientist and strength and conditioning specialist. Naidoo was also the performance analyst of the South African women’s hockey team at the Tokyo Olympics.

Meanwhile, Australia’s Mitchell Pemberton will take charge of the Indian men’s hockey team as the Scientific Advisor. Pemberton joins the office which is led by his compatriot Graham Reid. Pemberton has previously worked with Hockey Australia as the strength and conditioning coordinator for Junior Men’s Team. The Australian was the strength & conditioning coach for Contractor Royal Australian Airforce.

Speaking on the appointments, Hockey India President Gyanendro Ningombam was delighted with all the new arrivals for different teams. “It’s absolutely wonderful to have Taren Naidoo and Mitchell Pemberton on board as Scientific Advisors of the Indian Women’s Hockey Team and Indian Men’s Hockey Team respectively. We are also happy to bring on board Patrick Tshutshani as the Analytical Coach of the Indian Women’s Hockey Team.”

“We would also like to thank the Sports Authority of India for completing the formalities at the earliest to ensure the new recruits join the respective camps as soon as possible. Taren, Mitchell and Patrick have tremendous experience in their respective fields and we are certain that they will help us achieve our goals in the upcoming years. We wish them all the very best for their tenure with the Indian Hockey teams,” Ningombam added.
