The International Boxing Association [AIBA] has expressed their disappointment by criticizing the Boxing Federation of India [BFI] saying they have failed to pay close to two-third of the host city fee following the hosting of the Women’s World Championship in 2018.
The accusation by the AIBA of the BFI failure to make payment of host and their inability to comply with their duties. The BFI, however, rebates by saying the AIBA took action in a hurry by depriving them of the right to host the 2021 Men’s world championships in the country after they failed to pay the hosting fee.
The AIBA revealed an official statement saying the decision made was due to the fact that two-thirds of the Host fee due by the BFI for hosting the AIBA women’s Championship remains unpaid to date after 18 months of the event.
“The BFI should have made payments for the outstanding host fees in the summer of 2018. The association [AIBA] demonstrated a lot of patience and understanding reaching a consensus on various successive scheduled plans which were not honored by the BFI”.
However, the BFI has failed to respond to the latest allegations pointed by the AIBA as top officials failed to react to the situation.
The AIBA which has previously been fined for financial and administrative mismanagement failed to reveal the amount due for payment owed by the BFI for the 2018 event.
The AIBA has now handed the hosting rights to Belgrade, Serbia after it was withdrawn from India in 2017.
