Daniil Medvedev will take on Alexander Zverev in the fourth round of the Indian Wells and feels it is going to be an interesting contest against the German. The Russian qualified for the fourth round after beating Ilya Ivashka 6-2, 3-6, 6-1 on Monday.
This is the 16th straight victory for the 27-year-old from Moscow and he would want to carry the red-hot form against Zverev. Both the players have enjoyed playing each other in the past and share a 6-6 ATP H2H record against one another.
Medvedev feels it could be a long match and heaped praise on Zverev for making a solid comeback after suffering an ankle injury back in 2022.
“I think our match could be a lot of rallies. Let’s see. It’s going to be interesting,” Medvedev previewed. “I feel like he’s playing better and better, which is normal after a tough injury. He’s someone who was one of the best players on Tour, going kind of close to World No. 1, started playing better and better in Grand Slams.
“His injury was unfortunate but I’m sure he’s going to come back. Hopefully next match I can be the winner and I can play some good tennis.”
Meanwhile, the Russian lost the second set 3-6 but he feels he didn’t play that badly however he didn’t have the rub of the green on his side.
“[In the] second set I don’t feel like I was playing bad,” Medvedev said post-match. “It’s just that you hit 10 good shots in the rally and it could be not enough. That’s tough.”
Medvedev has been in prime form and he would want to be at his best against Alexander Zverev on Tuesday.
