Tennis legend Rafael Nadal was able to hit the ground running at competitive tennis after making a comeback from a seven months hiatus. Nadal was last seen in action when he won the Mexico Open back in February. However, Nadal had no issues in convincingly going past fellow Spianiard Pablo Carreno Busta 6-1, 6-1 in the second round of the ongoing Italian Open.
Nadal is always known for his competitiveness on the court and he wants to keep improving before the French Open 2020. The number two seed wants to bring his best to the table and he would be looking to clinch his 13th title at the Roland Garros.
On the other hand, Nadal is also aiming to win his 10th title at the Italian Open. Nadal won 79% of points on his first serve and he was able win five out of the six breakpoint opportunities in his second round match. However, the champion still feels there is a room for improvement in his game ahead of the French Open.
“Of course I have to improve things. The things that I have to improve, the only way to improve is to keep practicing with the right attitude, the right intensity, and to spend hours in competition matches,” said Nadal after winning his second-round match.
“Today has been a positive start for me. It gave me a chance to win a good match against a tough opponent,” added Nadal.
Meanwhile, Nadal had pulled out of the 2020 US Open due to Covid-19 scare. Nadal has won the last three French Open and the undisputed king of clay would aim to continue his dominance in the upcoming tournament.
On the other hand, Pablo Carreno Busta was able to make it to the semifinals of the US Open 2020 but lost despite winning the first two sets against eventual runners-up Alexander Zverev.
The French Open will begin from September 20.
