India’s fast bowler Mohammed Siraj has claimed that the match could end within two days if England adopts their ultra-aggressive approach of Bazball in the Indian conditions. England’s Bazball has worked wonders for the team and they have won 13 out of the 19 Test matches under Brendon McCullum and Ben Stokes. England batters have scored their runs at a run-rate of more than 4.8 in the last couple of years.
However, the English team will have their work cut out in the Indian conditions as the home team has a potent spin battery. The likes of Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Axar Patel have breathed down the neck of the English team and they are once again expected to do the bulk of the damage.
“If they try to play Bazball in Indian conditions then I think the match is likely to end inside two days. It is not easy here to hit every ball. The ball turns sometimes, sometimes it stays straight. If they play Bazball here then it is good for us because the match will end quickly,” Siraj said on JioCinema.
Ashwin and Jadeja have collectively picked 500 Test wickets at an average of 21 whereas their batting average is 32. Ashwin had scalped 32 wickets in four Test matches against England in 2021 whereas Axar Patel had bagged 27 wickets.
Meanwhile, Mohammed Siraj returned with his best Test bowling figures of 6-15 in the nine overs he bowled in the first innings of the second Test match against South Africa at Newlands, Cape Town. Ergo, the gun fast bowler will aim to deliver his best along with pack leader Jasprit Bumrah.
India and England will take on each other in the first Test match from 25th January onwards at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad.
