Delhi Capitals roped in all-rounder Shardul Thakur for a whopping amount of INR 10.75 crores in the IPL mega auction.
Thakur is excited to join a new franchise and he stated that they will aim for nothing less than a championship in the upcoming season of the IPL.
Thakur has been a consistent performer in the recent past and has done a fine job for the Indian team in all three formats of the game. Thakur had done a fine job while playing for Chennai Super Kings. The right-hander can swing the ball both ways in the powerplay overs and he can add the finishing touches while batting in the lower order.
Thakur has scalped 67 wickets in 61 IPL matches while playing for Chennai Super Kings. However, he didn’t have a lot of chances to bat for the franchise during his stint. The 30-year old all-rounder was released by Chennai Super Kings before the IPL auction.
Shardul Thakur said in Delhi Capitals’ social media post, “Hello everyone, and a quick hi to all the fans at Delhi Capitals, the owners, and the management. Four years and a new IPL team for me. I’m pretty excited to play for Delhi Capitals and leave a mark. Thank you for having the faith and going all out in the bidding war for me. We are going to aim for nothing less than a championship.”
Thakur will look to add value to the Delhi Capitals squad and he can certainly bring more variety to the playing XI.
Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals have been consistent in the last two seasons of the IPL. Delhi had finished as the runners-up in IPL 2020 and then qualified for the playoff stages in IPL 2021.
Along with Shardul Thakur, Delhi Capitals have also roped in David Warner, Mitchell Marsh, Mustafizur Rahman.
