There have been praises for young Shubman Gill over his contribution to Kolkata Knight Riders’ ‘ (KKR) seven-wicket win over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the ongoing India Premier League (IPL) in the United Arab Emirate (UAE).
The young batsman, who won the man of the match award, played with huge drive, with which he pulled and cut with authority to record an unbeaten 62-ball 70 in the game.
One of the top player giving Gill huge credit is England’s, Eoin Morgan. The English cricketer, who recently joined the franchise heaped praises on the young Indian opener, who partnered with him on the road to the victory.
The duo put on an unbeaten fourth-wicket partnership of 92 to help KKR to the overwhelming win.
In beating David Warner’s Sunrisers Hyderabad, Gill top-scored with 70 runs from 62 balls. Morgan, a left-hander, hit the winning boundary in his 29-ball 42 to win the game.
Morgan, who described the Indian cricketer as a beautiful to watch said he didn’t tell him much before playing his game.
Morgan, who is England’s limited-overs captain, said the 21-year-old has a good bat swing, with a very languid style, which is magnificent to watch. He added that Gill is a good player who is hungry to learn. The performance he said has made him want to bat with him again.
Also lauding Gill is Kolkata’s paceman, Pat Cummins. The Australian recorded impressive figures of 1-19 from his four overs. His performance restricted Hyderabad to 142 for four.
Cummins, who is the most expensive foreign player for the 2020 season cost KRR $2.17 million. He bowled out Jonny Bairstow for five, reducing Hyderabad’s scoring to an economy rate of 4.75.
Speaking after the game, Cummins lauded the performance of all the bowlers, which he described as great.
The man of the moment, Gill said his unbeaten partnership of 92 runs with Eoin Morgan, was a great feeling, adding that the team’s batting, bowling and fielding were top notch.
