The upcoming season of the Indian Super League is still months away but the teams have already started strengthening their rosters and also looking to bring in reinforcements to cover up their weak areas. Therefore according to reports on Khel Now, Hyderabad FC full-back Sahil Panwar is all set to join last season wooden spooners Odisha FC.
Odisha FC have a bunch of inexperienced Indian talents who have loads of talent and Sahil Panwar enters that category now. These players need experience through their foreign players and a coach who can guide them properly and use their strengths to their advantages something which has not happened at Odisha FC till now.
Young left-back Sahil Panwar is all set for a move to Odisha FC on a two-year deal,” the source close to the development told Khel Now. “The Juggernauts are confident of his talent and have decided to show faith in his abilities.”
Panwar is a very talented and versatile defender who predominantly plays as a left-back but can also slot in on the right and even play as a central defender. He rose through the ranks at Pune FC during his younger days and then made the decisive switch to the Indian Super League to join FC Pune City. Panwar had great talent and hence he grabbed multiple eyeballs at his new club.
Under Ranko Popovich in the 2017-18 ISL season, Panwar established himself as a regular at FC Pune City. That was the only season they were really good as Popovic guided them to the playoffs spot as they finished fourth in the points table.
Then the club got relocated to Hyderabad in 2019 and was rebranded as Hyderbad FC and here also Panwar stayed as a very promising piece of talent. He continued his development at Hyderabad FC under the tutelage of English head coach Phil Brown. Even in a horrific season for the Nizams, Panwar did put up some great numbers in as many as 12 ISL appearances that season.
However, the current Hyderabad FC head coach Manolo Marquez has turned the fortunes for the Nizams in the last season. The Spanish tactician tends to prefer the former Indian Arrows fullback Akash Mishra instead of Panwar and hence in search of more minutes, the 21-year-old defender is all set to join Odisha FC.
