FC Goa has signed the services of defender Marc Valiente ahead of the ninth season of the Hero Indian Super League, the club announced the news on their social media handle on Wednesday. The Spaniard has signed a one-year deal with the Gaurs and will stay with the club till the end of the 2023 season.
The Spanish defender expressed his excitement upon joining the club and said he will look to give his best in this new chapter of his career.
Speaking to fcgoa.in following completion of formalities, Valiente said, “I’m really excited to start this new chapter in my career. It’s an opportunity for me to live new experiences.
The 35-year-old veteran revealed that the head coach Carlos Pena played a key part in his signing.
“Carlos (Pena) was the biggest influence on my decision. He told me everything about his plan as a head coach and also about the club. I also had some chats with Alvaro (Vazquez), having shared the dressing room with both in the past. It was comforting to have him in my team as he is an amazing player and person.”
After the signing of Marc Valiente, FC Goa has completed their overseas players quota as they had earlier acquired the services of Fares Arnaout, Alvaro Vazquez, Iker Guarrotxena, Noah Sadaoui, and Edu Bedia.
On the other hand, ISL champions Hyderabad FC have roped in the services of 21-year-old attacker Ramhlunchhunga on a long-term deal ahead of the forthcoming season of the tournament, the club made the announcement on Wednesday.
The youngster played in the I-League with Aizawl FC in 2020 and slowly confirmed his berth in the first team last season. The youngster will look to come up with a good performance and impress one and all with his showing.
